About Svaneti

Guided Ski Touring & Big Mountain Adventures in Svaneti, Georgia

Experience true big mountain skiing in the Svaneti Region of Georgia — one of the wildest and most remote ski destinations in the Caucasus. Known for hosting Freeride World Tour events, Svaneti attracts skiers looking for steep lines, deep snow, and serious alpine terrain. With peaks rising above 4,000–5,000 meters, this region offers long descents, dramatic couloirs, glaciated ridges, and untouched valleys far from crowded resorts.

Our guided ski touring trips in Svaneti combine high-level freeride and backcountry skiing with the region’s unique atmosphere. Ancient stone towers, medieval villages, and strong local traditions are part of everyday life here, making each tour not only a skiing adventure but also a journey through one of Europe’s oldest mountain cultures.

Each trip is adapted to your group’s experience and goals — mainly suited for strong intermediate, advanced, and expert skiers — and can be booked as anything from guide-only services to fully all-inclusive packages including transfers, accommodation, meals, equipment support, and cultural experiences.

Sample 7-Day Itinerary (Flexible & Customizable)

This is a sample 7-day itinerary to show how a ski touring trip in Svaneti can look. The final plan is always adjusted to weather and snow conditions, group fitness and skiing level, and any special requests. Daily objectives are chosen by your guide to ensure the best skiing and safety.

Day 1 — Arrival & Transfer to Mestia

Arrive at Tbilisi or Kutaisi International Airport, where you’ll meet our team and begin the journey toward the mountains. Drive through scenic Georgian landscapes to Mestia, the heart of Svaneti. Check into your accommodation, enjoy a traditional dinner, meet your guide, and review the plan for the week.

Day 2 — Tetnuldi Warm-Up & Powder Runs

Start the week at Tetnuldi Ski Area, using lifts combined with short skinning approaches to access freeride terrain. This day is ideal for warming up, checking snow conditions, and finding great powder lines while surrounded by some of the region’s most impressive peaks.

Day 3 — Classic Svaneti Ski Touring

Head into true backcountry terrain for a full ski touring day. Skin through wide alpine valleys with views of iconic mountains such as Mount Ushba, followed by long descents through open bowls and natural features typical of Svaneti.

Day 4 — Big Mountain & Glacial Terrain

This day focuses on Svaneti’s high-alpine character. Depending on conditions, the route may lead onto glaciated terrain, high ridges, and remote alpine zones. Expect bigger climbs, serious mountain scenery, and rewarding descents in untouched snow.

Day 5 — Cultural Day & Remote Villages

Take time to experience the cultural side of Svaneti. Visit one of the region’s historic villages, known for its medieval stone towers and UNESCO-listed heritage. The day may include light touring, short ski objectives, local food, and time to explore village life.

Day 6 — High-Altitude Lines & Steep Objectives

Return to the mountains for another demanding ski day. Your guide selects the best objective based on current conditions — from wide high-altitude faces to steeper couloirs and technical lines that define Svaneti’s reputation for big mountain skiing.

Day 7 — Final Ski or Transfer & Departure

Depending on departure timing, enjoy a final ski run or a relaxed morning in Mestia. Transfer back to Tbilisi or Kutaisi International Airport for your onward journey.
